Survey on Women's Childbearing Attitudes (March 7, 2014)
CASR and Department of Sociology were commissioned by Kowloon Women’s Organizations Federation to conduct a survey on women’s attitudes toward childbearing. A total of 510 successful telephone interviews were conducted with female aged 18-49 who are living in Hong Kong in January 2014. The survey results showed that Hong Kong women have positive attitude in giving birth. Over one-half of both the never married (55.5%) and married respondents (68.2%) indicated that they like to have kids. According the women respondents, Hong Kong Government could encourage young couples to have kids by implementing flexible working hours, setting maximum working hours and reducing related taxes, etc.
