Healthy City Wan Chai District Public Health Survey (October 20, 2014)

CASR was commissioned by the Wan Chai District Council and the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service to conduct a survey between June and August 2014 using face-to-face interview. 800 interviews were successfully conducted with people aged 15 years or above who are living, working or studying in Wan Chai (including Chinese and non-Chinese people). Respondents were also measured on a WHO scale of physical and mental health. About 29 per cent of respondents scored less than 52, considered the “passing grade”, on a scale of 0-100. They generally are not satisfied with the air quality and noise level in Wan Chai district in Hong Kong. Research also found that more than half of the respondents have more than one physical discomfort symptoms, such as muscle pain, headache and skin allergies, etc., with some of them have to have long-term follow-up appointments to medication.
