HKRC "A thematic study on external factors influencing vulnerable groups seeking social supports from institutions in Hong Kong" (July 31, 2023)

The Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) commissioned the Centre for the Advancement of Social Sciences Research (CASR) of Hong Kong Baptist University to conduct "A thematic study on external factors influencing vulnerable groups seeking social supports from institutions in Hong Kong" between December 2022 and February 2023.

The 4 target vulnerable groups included "Low and middle-income group", "Residents of subdivided flats", "Persons with disabilities (PWD)" and "Ethnic minorities (EM)". The report of the Study was released on 31 July 2023, which covered the key findings and themes in (A) Problem recognition and awareness; (B) Motivations and behaviours of help-seeking; (C) Help-seeking experience from institutions; (D) Barriers influencing seeking support from institutions; and (E) Facilitators promoting help-seeking from institutions.
