Centre for the Advancement of Social Sciences Research was commissioned by the Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board to conduct a survey in order to find out the understanding of Asbestos Hazards among construction workers. Over 56% did not use asbestos safety measures, only around one third of the respondents could mention wetting down the asbestos-containing materials can prevent asbestos from entering the body. The Board finds out that there is lack of knowledge amongst construction workers and suggests the relevant authorities, public sectors, training organizations and contractors shall work together to raise awareness of the asbestos hazards amongst construction workers and adopt a total ban on all use of asbestos-containing material.
