The Centre for the Advancement of Social Sciences Research (CASR) was commissioned by the Kowloon Women’s Organisations Federation to conduct an opinion survey on “Aging in Place, Facing up to the Carer’s Giving and Pressure” from 2nd to 9th February 2012.

A total of 510 carers, who were aged 30 or above and taking care of elders aged 65 or above in their family, were interviewed. The survey aimed at investigating the situation of the respondents’ family and the care-receiver, usage of support services from the government and respondents’ view in “Aging in Community, Aging at Home”. More than 70% (72.9%) of the respondents had to take care of elders who lived or did not live with them. The results also showed that 62.9% of the respondents had to take care one elder while 28.6% needed to take care two elders. 8.4% of them had to take care 3 or more elders.
