Survey on “Privacy Awareness Survey on Smartphones and Smartphone Apps”

The Centre for the Advancement of Social Sciences Research (CASR) was commissioned by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) to conduct an opinion survey on “Privacy Awareness Survey on Smartphones and Smartphone Apps”.

A total of 1,013 respondents smartphone users were interviewed, 838 of them were Android or iPhone users. 93.6% of those users have installed apps, however, only 26.8% of the respondents have read the privacy policy before installing the apps. The results also showed that about 57% of the Android and iPhone users did not know what information their apps had access to.
